Maleena is an articling student at Gilbert’s, bringing a multidisciplinary background that bridges science and client services.
Before starting law school, Maleena worked in financial communications and had a brief stint working at Chanel. She also spent time doing instructional design for the Queen’s University’s School of Medicine while completing her undergraduate studies.
Maleena enjoyed her time at Queen’s so much that she returned there for law school, where she received the award for top oralist in trial advocacy and the course prize in advanced contracts. She contributed to the Legal Aid Clinic, where she spent time with the Elder Law team to assist with estate planning for members of the community, and participated in an exchange at the National University of Singapore, where she got exposed to multinational corporate law.
Maleena is eager to work on cases that implicate life sciences, particularly pharmaceutical cases, and to become involved in Gilbert’s Global. Maleena’s academic background is in biochemistry, but she also studied art history during her undergraduate degree and plans on exploring Toronto’s arts community and local galleries. Outside the office, Maleena enjoys discovering eccentric international fiction, hunting for a good deal on beautiful things, and planning her next vacation.
