Before law school, Shawayne graduated summa cum laude with an honours bachelor from York University majoring in Criminology and Information Technology. While studying, Shawayne volunteered with several youth mentoring groups, served as an editor on an undergraduate criminological review, and was president of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program at York. He also worked as an office assistant at York University’s McLaughlin College head office before graduating. His plans for working in the cybersecurity space were interrupted by his acceptance into to law school.
Currently, Shawayne attends Osgoode Hall Law School where he remains an active volunteer in the Law in Action Within Schools mentoring program. He also enjoys participating in mooting and negotiation competitions and served as the Virtual Moot Specialist for the Black Law Student’s Association of Canada.
In his rapidly declining free time, Shawayne enjoys baking and trying out new recipes. He also enjoys playing modern and retro video games.
