Biography
Derek Archibald is a respected Indigenous leader and strategist recognized for advancing Nation-led ownership and economic sovereignty across Canada. In his current role as Indigenous Advisor at Gilbert’s Global Indigenous Capital, Derek guides partnerships between Indigenous governments, investors, and industry that are grounded in governance, consent, and long-term community benefit. He brings deep experience in policy, finance, and Nation-based development — structuring equitable agreements that create both economic opportunity and cultural integrity.
Derek’s leadership reflects a belief that reconciliation must be built through ownership, not observation. His work focuses on practical, Nation-driven strategies that strengthen self-determination, build intergenerational wealth, and ensure Indigenous voices lead in shaping Canada’s energy and resource future.
