Biography
Sana Syed is an articling student at Gilbert’s LLP, where she supports both the litigation team and Gilbert’s Global. Her work at the firm reflects her natural curiosity and versatility across multiple areas of law. Having always been fascinated by the intersection of technology, creativity, and law, articling at Gilbert’s was a natural next step, where she brings an enthusiastic and detail-oriented approach to every matter she tackles.
Sana attended the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where she confirmed her interest in intellectual property, corporate/commercial, and regulatory matters by volunteering at the Artists’ Legal Advice Services and earning the Rotman@Law certification. In law school, she was also a member of the school’s Admissions Committee, participated in the Structural Genomics Consortium Externship, served as a student mentor, and performed in the UofT Law Follies, a comedy sketch show.
During her 1L summer, she worked as an Educator with the Youth Summer Program, where she discovered her passion for synthesizing complex legal topics into practical, digestible insights—a skill she seeks to develop further at Gilbert’s to make intricate legal issues clear and actionable for clients.
Prior to law school, Sana worked as an illustrator for a startup while completing her undergraduate studies in political science. Her political science background continues to inform her approach to legal work, helping her keep regulatory frameworks and governmental structures in mind while navigating legal and commercial issues.
Outside of work, Sana enjoys live music, action-adventure video games, hiking, and doting on her clingy Siamese cat, Mimi.
